Inspiration

We are a dynamic team of four ambitious undergraduate students from the University of Virginia, brought together by our shared dedication to health justice and our common goal of serving underprivileged nations. Rooted in our individual experiences as children of immigrants, we bring a wealth of diverse perspectives and a deep-seated passion for making a difference in the world of public health. Driven by the urgency of addressing healthcare disparities, we collaborate tirelessly, leveraging our collective skills and expertise to develop innovative solutions that promote equitable access to quality healthcare. With a strong commitment to community empowerment and social impact, we embrace the challenge of the hackathon as an opportunity to turn our ideas into actionable initiatives that have the potential to transform lives and drive positive change on a global scale.

What it does

The website allows people find healthcare sites near them and connect with doctors as needed.

How we built it

We built the website with HTML, CSS, and Google's API, one of them being the Maps JavaScript API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into difficulties with the Google API search functioning correctly.

What's next for Healthcare Connect

Adding improvement to the Maps feature by facilitating the process of finding healthcare nearby with more filtering.

Impact

This website will aid travelers who may need healthcare abroad as well as citizens of poorer, third-world countries.

Innovative

Our website displays a cross section of healthcare and technology. It brings a new concept to undeveloped nations and aids those in need. Our website helps connect people to healthcare providers for direct help--people who otherwise would not be able to reach that type of professional. Well there are initiatives to bring healthcare to underdeveloped nations, many people in these nations do not know of their existence. We want to change that. Here, at Health Care Connect, we believe in health equity--a better, kinder future is a future where everyone is able to get the help they need no matter what the hands of life they were dealt.
