Inspiration

Watching friends struggle with scattered health tools (jumping between BMI calculators and calorie trackers) while worrying about data privacy sparked the idea. I wanted a tool that’s private by design yet comprehensive enough to replace multiple apps.

What it does

HealthCalc Hub is an all-in-one health metrics tool with 20+ calculations (BMI, BMR, QTc, etc.)—all processed locally in your browser. It auto-fills data via a "Smart Profile," works on any device, and supports English/Chinese.

How we built it

I used HTML/CSS/JavaScript for the frontend, with Tailwind for responsive design. LocalStorage handles user data, ensuring no uploads. Medical formulas (e.g., Mifflin-St Jeor) were coded into modular functions for scalability.

Challenges we ran into

I am not a professional developer, just an amateur enthusiast. This is also my first time participating in a hackathon, so I am not familiar with some of the procedures. Secondly, collecting and organizing a large number of medical indicator calculation formulas is also a complex task.

Accomplishments we're proud of

Provides a large number of medical indicator calculations

What we learned

Bridging medicine and tech requires rigorous research—even small formula errors risk misinformation. User testing (not just coding) makes or breaks usability.

What's next for HealthCalc Hub

I will try to integrate an LLM (Large Language Model) to provide analysis and health advice for various metrics. Meanwhile, as a food enthusiast, I also hope the website can leverage AI to offer healthy recipe recommendations based on physical indicators.
