Inspiration
Many struggle with staying engaged in their healthcare routines, leading to missed appointments and neglected treatments. We wanted to create a solution that makes home healthcare easier, more interactive, and proactive.
What it does
HealthBuddy helps patients stay on top of their health with:
- Calendar for tracking appointments
- Doctor's Orders to follow throughout the day and stay on track for wellness goals
- AI Chatbot for answering small, health-related questions
How we built it
We developed HealthBuddy using React Native, MySQL, and Springboot
Challenges we ran into
- Setting up controllers between Spring Boot and the frontend
- Ensuring an intuitive user experience for non-tech-savvy patients
- Implementing effective reminders that users actually follow
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrating a calendar, chatbot, and reminders in one app
- Creating an engaging patient experience with wellness challenges
- Overcoming backend-to-frontend communication hurdles
What we learned
- How to optimize cross-platform development with Expo
- Best practices for backend API design in healthcare applications
- The importance of user-friendly UI for patient engagement
What's next for HealthBuddy
- Expanding chatbot capabilities to become AI-Assistant within the scope of the app
- Adding cloud-based integrations for direct doctor communication
Built With
