Inspiration
I have severe sickness issues in my own family and it really made me think about health and well-being. At first, I was kind of confused about what to build for this hackathon but then I came up with a bunch of solutions and merged them together to enable people to manage their health in a more holistic and healthy way!
What it does
It’s a platform with a ton of helpful and motivational features.
- We have a nice Dashboard that lets you track everything related to your health from medications to appointments.
- Then there’s an interactive Mood Garden: The garden grows or wilts based on your mood — a way to visualize your progress and well-being. Interesting, right?
- We also implemented a custom Meal Planner & Tracker with limited AI assistance.
- Plus a Care Hub where you can book appointments, view health notes, try out First Aid Quiz and connect with a team of professional doctors.
- Lastly, we have a Community Section featuring a Challenges, Encouragement Wall, badges, a leaderboard and messages of encouragement to foster collective motivation!!
How we built it
I primarily researched and gathered data from various sites, alongside the suggested SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) from the UN. I had to brainstorm quite a bit but I was able to piece everything together. I used Bolt.new to create the site structure and then I manually customized and refined it to bring my ideas to life one by one.
Challenges we ran into
- As I’m working all by myself and I’m a student without a big budget, I faced a lot of hurdles.
- I couldn’t access premium services like Bolt Pro or other tools and I had a shortage of equipment and resources.
- So I used all the free models and services I could find and did everything manually myself which made the process challenging but rewarding!
- Debugging the code alone as a beginner was troublesome
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- This project really boosted my confidence and proved I can achieve a lot on my own!
- Creating something that might make a real, positive difference in someone’s health and happiness is honestly the most rewarding feeling I’ve gotten from this hackathon!
What we learned
- Through this process, I learned the power of perseverance, creativity and problem-solving under pressure.
- I also learned a ton about designing for health care, understanding users’ struggles and turning their needs into a helpful application!
What's next for HealthBuddy+
I’m excited to expand HealthBuddy+ in the future, adding more advanced health metrics, adding a community health tracker, integrating a chatbot with health tips and hopefully turning this into something bigger a platform that can aid people’s well-being in their daily routines!
