Inspiration

The inspiration behind HealthBridge stems from the increasing need for accessible mental health resources for youth. Recognizing the growing mental health crisis among young people, we aimed to create a platform that connects them to vital resources, support networks, and professional guidance.

What it does

HealthBridge is a mental health advocacy web app designed to help youth connect with mental health resources. It provides users with access to a chatbot for instant support, a dashboard to track their progress, and various features like mental health journals, resource libraries, and medication trackers. It also allows for seamless communication with healthcare professionals to monitor progress and address mental health concerns.

How we built it

We built HealthBridge using Next.js for the front-end, ensuring a responsive and interactive user interface. The back-end is powered by MongoDB for robust data storage, while mongoose facilitates smooth database operations. For real-time support, we integrated a chatbot using the openai api. We used Font Awesome for icons and Lottie animations to enhance the user experience.

Challenges we ran into

One of the primary challenges was ensuring the chatbot provided accurate and helpful responses. Integrating various mental health assessments and ensuring data privacy and security were also significant hurdles. We had to balance providing comprehensive features while maintaining an intuitive user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of creating a user-friendly platform that can significantly impact youth mental health. Successfully integrating real-time chat support, creating an interactive and engaging patient dashboard, and ensuring secure data handling are some of our key accomplishments.

What we learned

Throughout the development of HealthBridge, we learned the importance of user feedback in refining our platform. We gained insights into the specific needs of youth regarding mental health resources and the importance of integrating professional support seamlessly. Additionally, we enhanced our technical skills in using Next.js, MongoDB, and real-time chat integrations.

What's next for HealthBridge

The next steps for HealthBridge include expanding our resource library with more interactive and multimedia content, implementing AI-driven personalized mental health recommendations, and launching a mobile app for greater accessibility. We also plan to collaborate with mental health professionals to offer virtual counseling sessions directly through the platform.
