Inspiration

Every campus has everyday problems that students notice but often struggle to get resolved quickly — broken lights and fans, damaged switchboards, unclean classrooms or washrooms, water leakage, furniture issues, and other infrastructure problems.

We were inspired to build CampusFix-AI to turn these everyday complaints into visible, trackable, and actionable tasks while protecting student privacy.

What We Built

CampusFix-AI is an AI-powered campus infrastructure management platform that connects students, faculty, maintenance staff, HODs, and management through one intelligent workflow.

Students can report an issue with details, location, and optional evidence. The system analyzes the complaint, identifies its category, estimates priority, detects potentially duplicate complaints, and routes the issue to the appropriate maintenance team.

Instead of complaints getting lost in messages or verbal communication, every issue becomes a trackable workflow:

Report → AI Analysis → Priority → Assignment → Resolution → Verification

Key Features

  • Anonymous and privacy-focused issue reporting
  • AI-based complaint classification
  • Automatic priority assessment
  • Duplicate complaint detection
  • Smart assignment to maintenance teams
  • Complaint status tracking
  • Evidence and resolution updates
  • Student verification and reopening
  • HOD and management dashboards
  • Campus issue analytics
  • Recurring issue detection
  • Role-based access control
  • Notifications and escalation workflow

How We Built It

We designed CampusFix-AI as a full-stack application with a modern web frontend, backend APIs, database, authentication, and an AI analysis layer.

The AI layer focuses on transforming unstructured complaints into structured information such as:

Category → Location → Asset → Priority → Similar Issues → Recommended Workflow

The platform also includes dashboards that help management understand recurring problems, high-risk areas, resolution performance, and campus infrastructure trends.

Challenges We Faced

One of our biggest challenges was designing an AI workflow that could be useful without making unsupported decisions. We therefore focused on explainable prioritization and human-controlled resolution.

We also had to consider privacy, duplicate complaints, role-based permissions, real-time status updates, and the different requirements of students, maintenance teams, HODs, and management.

What We Learned

Building CampusFix-AI taught us how to transform a real-world problem into an end-to-end software solution.

We learned about AI-assisted classification, workflow automation, database design, role-based systems, privacy-aware application design, analytics, and building a product around actual user needs.

What's Next

We plan to extend CampusFix-AI with predictive maintenance insights, richer campus analytics, image-based issue recognition, mobile support, smarter escalation, and deeper infrastructure health monitoring.

Our vision is simple:

Turn everyday campus problems into visible, trackable actions — and help campuses become smarter, safer, and more responsive.
