Inspiration

Heart Guardian was inspired by the growing number of people living with arrhythmia and other heart conditions that often go undetected until they become life-threatening. Many patients experience abnormal heart rhythms outside hospitals, where immediate medical assistance is unavailable.

We wanted to build a solution that not only monitors heart conditions but also connects patients, doctors, and caregivers in one intelligent platform. By combining AI-powered insights with continuous monitoring, Heart Guardian aims to support earlier intervention and improve emergency response.

What it does

Heart Guardian is an AI-powered cardiac monitoring platform designed to assist patients with arrhythmia and heart attack risks.

The platform provides three dedicated user roles:

Patient

  • Monitor heart condition through a personalized dashboard.
  • View heart rate trends and monitoring history.
  • Receive AI-generated health insights and recommendations.
  • Manage personal health information.

Doctor

  • Monitor multiple patients in one dashboard.
  • Review patient health details and monitoring trends.
  • Receive alerts when abnormal heart conditions are detected.
  • Manage consultation schedules.

Caregiver

  • Monitor the patient's condition remotely.
  • Receive health updates and emergency notifications.
  • Stay connected with both patients and healthcare professionals.

Together, these features create a connected healthcare ecosystem that supports faster and more informed decision-making.

The application was designed using a role-based architecture to provide different experiences for patients, doctors, and caregivers.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing an intuitive healthcare application that serves three different types of users while keeping the interface simple and easy to navigate.

Another challenge was coordinating frontend development, backend implementation, database integration, and AI components within the limited hackathon timeframe.

Balancing realistic healthcare workflows with rapid prototyping also required careful planning and continuous collaboration among team members.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully designing and implementing a complete healthcare ecosystem consisting of Patient, Doctor, and Caregiver interfaces.

We also successfully developed:

  • Role-based dashboards.
  • AI-powered health insight workflow.
  • A scalable application architecture for future AI integration.
  • A collaborative healthcare experience connecting patients, doctors, and caregivers.

Most importantly, we transformed a healthcare idea into a functional prototype within the hackathon period.

What we learned

Throughout this hackathon, we learned that building digital healthcare solutions requires more than software development.

We gained valuable experience in:

What's next for Heart Guardian

  • Expanding AI capabilities for personalized health recommendations.
  • Implementing cloud-based infrastructure for secure healthcare data.
  • Supporting telemedicine consultations.
  • Integrating electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Providing predictive emergency alerts for high-risk patients.

Our long-term vision is to make Heart Guardian a trusted digital companion for continuous cardiac care and early intervention.
