🧠 Inspiration
In many communities, access to immediate health guidance is limited. People often turn to search engines and get overwhelmed or misinformed. We wanted to build a tool that offers a friendly, AI-powered interface for preliminary health support—one that empowers people to make better decisions about their well-being, without trying to replace professional care.
💡 What We Built
HealthGenie is an AI-powered personal health assistant that helps users:
- Check symptoms in natural language
- Get smart, relevant suggestions
- Learn basic self-care recommendations
- Use a clean, mobile-friendly interface
Our goal was to make healthcare literacy more accessible to everyone, especially those who may not have immediate access to medical professionals.
🛠️ How We Built It
- Frontend: Built to create a lightweight, responsive UI.
- AI Backend: Uses Gemmini GPT model to understand user inputs and generate relevant suggestions.
- Deployment: Hosted on Netfily Cloud for quick and easy access.
🚧 Challenges We Faced
- Balancing simplicity and functionality in a limited UI framework.
- Ensuring the AI responses are helpful but clearly not medical advice.
- Token limits and cost constraints with API usage.
- Designing intuitive prompts to keep suggestions relevant and clear.
📚 What We Learned
- How to design and deploy a full-stack AI application in under a week.
- How to prompt engineer for responsible health-related outputs.
- The importance of UX when building tools for non-technical audiences.
🚀 What's Next
- Add multilingual support for global usability.
- Enable voice input for better accessibility.
- Explore wearable integration for real-time symptom tracking.
Develop a community Q&A feature with AI moderation.
