📃✨️ Introduction

Peace be upon you...

We are a group of ambitious university students who came together after witnessing the paralyzed state of the healthcare sector in responding to sudden outbreaks. This paralysis was largely due to the lack of effective digital and technological integration within the system. This realization was more than enough motivation for us to step up and bring the missing digital and technical touches into the sector. The result of our collaboration and shared effort is...

A simple, user-friendly application that serves everyone in the health sector — from citizens, hospital staff, and health ministries to all stakeholders involved.
Its name is "Nabdaa", a mobile and desktop app that simplifies health-related processes and protects you from epidemics — just in time.

🔍📚 Background

The idea for this app was born out of a painful and recent reality that all Sudanese are living through. As a group of friends, we got together to discuss the root of the issue:

"Why are epidemics spreading repeatedly in Sudan? How do they spread, and why? Are there real solutions?"

The answers we found were far from satisfactory. So we conducted field research in several parts of the healthcare sector and spoke with relatives and acquaintances who work in health to better understand the problem. From that, we began forming ideas for practical solutions that could truly impact Sudanese lives.

⚠️🧱 Challenges

We faced many obstacles on this journey, but the most prominent were:

  1. University Commitments
Balancing academics and the project was a major challenge and placed significant pressure on the team.

  2. Technical Challenges
Since realism was our priority, we had to learn new skills and technologies to produce at least a working prototype that demonstrates the app’s potential to solve the problem.

  3. Environmental Constraints
Sudan’s current situation posed many difficulties: frequent power outages, weak internet, long queues, and the added hardship brought by war.

  4. Nature of the Problem
Understanding the full picture of how the healthcare system operates was not easy, and opportunities to observe it directly were not always available.

🛠💡 Solutions

Despite all the challenges, our motivation and determination never faded.
Through:

  • solid organization
  • task delegation
  • careful planning
  • backup strategies
  • regular, structured meetings
  • and a sincere, tireless work ethic...

We managed to overcome every obstacle without burnout or discouragement.

📊📈 Results

We developed a flexible, easy-to-use app with attractive interfaces, available for both mobile and laptop. It allows users to:

  • Book appointments with doctors for themselves or family members
  • Access emergency contacts in critical situations
  • Read medical advice and helpful health tips
  • And much more.

For hospitals, health ministries, and other healthcare entities, the app offers tailored features to suit each role — all designed to complement one another within the system.

One of the most impactful features — and the core of our epidemic-response solution — is notifications:
They connect citizens, hospitals, and the ministry. As soon as an outbreak is detected, all parties are instantly alerted, allowing for swift action to contain the epidemic in time.

🏁🎯 Conclusion

Developing "Nabdaa" was a strong testament to:

  • the power of teamwork
  • the flexibility of smart planning
  • and the precision of thoughtful execution in such projects.

We gained valuable experiences and skills throughout this journey. And though this is only the first version of our app, we are proud of what we’ve accomplished. We once dreamed of such a solution for Sudan — and now, we look forward to continuously improving it and expanding its amazing features.
