Health - e - Melanin

Inspiration

We wanted to address racial disparities and inequities in the healthcare system by creating a platform that connects vulnerable communities to medical resources and healthcare professionals.

What It Does

Health-e-Melanin provides a directory to local doctors in the tri-state area. It also includes information on holistic health, offers resources for uninsured individuals, and provides COVID-19 updates.

How We Built It

We used HTML and CSS to create our different sheets. Through using the different styling, we were able to create an ecstatic to showcase our different pages to display the research we gathered.

Challenges We Ran Into

Working as a team virtually was an unexpected obstacle to overcome. Lacking the physical presence really drained the energy necessary to be productive and energized.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

We are proud of participating in our first hackathon as a team, especially in such an unprecedented manner.

What We Learned

We learned how to collaborate in a virtual setting and how to utilize each other’s different strengths to develop a product.

What's Next for Health - e - Melanin

We plan to continue to expand our project to create a directory for all 50 states and increase/diversify the access to medical information and resources.
