HEALTH CENTRE is a hybrid live action and AI generated short film inspired by the surreal late night anthology shows of the late 80s and 90s. Broadcast in the dead of night, these programmes were genreless, uncanny, and impossible to neatly label, and the film draws directly from that legacy. Set inside a desolate doctor’s surgery, the story begins in stark realism before gradually slipping into a euphoric dream, where puppets awaken in the depths of the building and the space begins to transform. No one comes here by accident, and no one leaves unchanged.
The first minute and ten seconds are entirely live action, shot practically on location. From there, single frames from the footage are extracted and used as the foundation for AI generated sequences, compositing physical performances with AI animated puppets and AI built VFX to create a seamless hybrid of reality and machine interpreted hallucination.
Using Runway, Photoshop Firefly, Freepik, Higgsfield, and Kling AI, the film develops impossible transitions, shifting environments, puppet animation, and uncanny AI driven effects that twist the surgery into a liminal, otherworldly dreamscape. The AI does not replace the live action. It amplifies it, reshaping the imagery into something stranger, darker, and more expressive.
The film concludes in a crescendo of fully AI generated environments, roto scoped actors, and AI animated puppets colliding with the remaining live action. Final grading and finishing were completed in After Effects and Premiere, giving the film the haunting texture of forgotten broadcast television.
