Inspiration

As college students, we understand the struggle to maintain healthy sleeping habits alongside achieving good grades and keeping up healthy relationships with friends. We wanted to create a website that alleviates some of the stress of a college student. Furthermore, people who are focused on eating healthy ensure that they eat a daily protein intake.

What it does

When the user opens the website, they will be greeted by a home page that provides a plentiful amount of information on healthy sleeping habits and protein in one's diet. From this home page, a user can then go to the Sleep Tracker and Protein Tracker. In the Sleep Tracker, the user can input the amount of sleep they get per night to ensure that they are getting the recommended amount. A similar environment is available in Protein Tracker. Here, the user can input their weight to get a suggested daily protein target and track their protein intake throughout the day.

How we built it

We utilized the IDE Visual Studio Code, CSS, JS, HTML, and GitHub (to work collaboratively) to build the website.

Challenges we ran into

As both members of the team had no prior experience with web development, HTML, JS, CSS, or using GitHub in a team setting, there were numerous challenges to overcome. The largest being that we were unsure how to get started. Therefore, through careful research and reading we came to understand what we needed to do.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are particularly proud of creating a functional website that utilizes many aspects of web development with which we had no prior experience with.

What we learned

We gained significant knowledge on basic Web development, HTML, JS, CSS, and GitHub (specifically, in a team setting). Through the workshops provided by HackIllinois we learned about machine learning, Git, basic web development, and how to utilize databases.
