Health Buddy

Inspiration

Sometimes students have simple health questions but don't know where to get easy and understandable information. Also online searching gives them to much info and sometimes scary information.

What it does

A student types a question,Health Buddy gives a short and easy explanation. If the question is serious it directs them to seek help from qualified health professionals instead of trying to diagnose them It can also show trusted health websites and emergency info

How we built it

We planned HealthBuddy around the common health questions students have. We designed a simple AI assistant that gives clear health information and reminds users when they should seek professional help

Challenges we ran into

One challenge was making health information simple without giving unsafe or misleading advice. We also had to think carefully about how to make the AI avoid diagnosing people.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we turned a simple idea into a useful concept that could help students understand health information more easily and make safer choices.

What we learned

We learned that AI can be useful for solving real problems, but it must be used responsibly, especially when dealing with health information.

What's next for Health Buddy

We want to build a working version, connect it to trusted health sources, add more languages such as Kiswahili and local languages and test it with students to make it better.
