Inspiration
When you experience pain or discomfort, one of the most scariest feelings is to not know what is going to happen with your body. That is the issue we are trying to resolve. We provide accessible information and assurance.
What it does
Health Buddy collects user-input symptoms and feeds them through ApiMedic and OpenAi to generate diagnosis ranked on accuracy and personal and symptom-specific home-remedies to alleviate the symptoms. Health Buddy also generates the locations of the nearby healthcare facilities based on the mobile device's coordination or a specific address. Last but not least, Health Buddy tracks and notifies medicine consumption and can potentially contact your provider in case of medicine refills or find help in case of emergency.
How we built it
We used Expo to develop an app in React Native for compatibility with both Android and iOS devices. We fetch the data from ApiMedic, OpenAi, and Radar.
Challenges we ran into
Because none of our team members have worked with Expo before, we ran into a lot of configuration issues, such as no connection to the port or difficulty in working with environment variables in Expo. We also spent a large portion of time stressing over integrating the data from the APIs to the front end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to learn to use different APIs, to integrate, and to create a (mostly) functional demo product in such a short amount of time.
What we learned
After this experience, our team member are most definitely more comfortable with developing an app in a high pace environment. Also, one of the important lessons for us is continuous integration.
What's next for Health Buddy
Get a good long sleep, because that is what we all , including you, are focusing on today: Health.
