What did you do? We implemented an Alexa custom voice skill to help a sick person describe their symptoms and receive a diagnosis using voice interaction. We also trained an AWS SageMaker model to help diagnose severity Why did you do it? We did this project as a proof of concept of improving patient health with more convenience and cost efficiency What worked? We will demo the voice skill interactions and show the model. It works quite well
How does this make things better? Having an always available personal service for diagnosing symptoms is an easy first step before an expensive doctor visit without waiting How can this be deployed? This Alexa skill can be deployed serverlessly on AWS infrastructure, using Alexa skill hosting, AWS Lambda, and AWS SageMaker for training models. What’s next? For more serious symptoms, we can recommend a trip to the doctor, and could integrate with other medical platform providers to seamlessly transition from the initial inquiry into professional care. A scalable way to advertise to end-users is to partner with health systems as intermediaries. They could distribute brochures to their patients as a way to save costs.
