Inspiration
We were inspired by our pets. We take such good care of them, but we tend to neglect our own needs. We wanted to build a program to help with this.
What it does
It tracks your activities and eating habits while also giving you a space to practice gratitude. We wanted to encourage the user to find pride in their progress.
How we built it
We started in pseudocode. We wrote a much simpler version of our finalized project, which only tracked the meals. We then added more components to the code to also track activity and a gratitude entry. Finally we created the files that enabled us to print a polished summary at the end.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled against files, a bug that caused an infinity loop, and, our greatest enemy, getline().
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Familiarizing ourselves with C++, Replit, and GitHub.
What we learned
Teamwork! It was difficult at first to get on the same page and assign tasks, however it became much more organized once we got the ball rolling.
What's next for Health and Wellness Journal
We will integrate this with a virtual pet, where the user's consistency in journaling maintains the happiness of their pet.
