Inspiration

In Thailand, many patients still travel to hospitals even for mild symptoms or just to seek basic advice. This results in overcrowded healthcare facilities and unnecessary strain on medical professionals. We were inspired to create a solution that uses AI and telemedicine to pre-screen symptoms, helping patients get the right level of care while reducing unnecessary hospital visits.

What it does

HealthCare_Platform is a medical platform that helps users analyze their symptoms through text or image inputs. The AI model evaluates the symptoms and suggests whether the user should see a doctor or can safely manage their condition at home. The platform offers personalized health advice, connects users with remote doctors when needed, and guides them through appropriate next steps.

How we built it

We trained our AI models using localized medical symptom and disease data from Thai sources.

We implemented NLP and Computer Vision to analyze text-based symptom inputs and skin images.

The system is integrated with chatbot interfaces (e.g., LINE or Facebook Messenger) to ensure accessibility.

We built a secure backend that anonymizes patient data and allows seamless connection with real doctors.

Challenges we ran into

Handling diverse ways Thai users describe symptoms in natural language, requiring robust NLP models.

Extracting enough detail from vague symptom descriptions through follow-up questions.

Designing UI/UX that is friendly for all age groups, especially the elderly.

Ensuring compliance with Thai healthcare regulations and personal data protection (PDPA).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Achieved high accuracy in AI-based symptom pre-screening and personalized recommendations.

Over 60% of users were able to avoid unnecessary doctor visits thanks to our guidance.

Received positive feedback from both users and healthcare professionals.

Successfully piloted system integrations with local hospitals for referral management.

What we learned

Users want reassurance that AI health advice is safe and trustworthy.

Involving healthcare professionals from the early stages leads to more accurate and practical design.

AI cannot replace doctors, but it can significantly support them when designed with quality data and care pathways.

What's next for HealthCare_Platform

Expand coverage to chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and mental health.

Add support for regional languages (e.g., Isan, Malay-Thai) to reach rural populations.

Integrate automatic appointment scheduling and connect with health insurance systems.

Open APIs for clinics and hospitals to adopt and build on our solution.

Collaborate with government organizations to pilot the platform in underserved rural areas.
