🚀 Inspiration
Recovering from surgery can be stressful, especially for kids. We wanted to turn recovery into a game—a fun, engaging experience that motivates children to take care of themselves through quests, an interactive avatar, and AI-powered progress tracking.
🛠️ What It Does
- Gamifies recovery 🎮—Kids complete quests for taking medication, hydrating, moving, and tracking symptoms.
- Tracks progress 📊—A progress bar visually shows recovery steps completed.
- AI-powered reminders 🤖—An AI character helps guide recovery, checking if tasks are completed.
- Shop for furniture 🏡—Earn coins to buy furniture and customize your avatar’s house.
⚙️ How We Built It
- Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript for dynamic UI.
- Backend: Flask, MongoDB, AWS for tracking progress and storing recovery data.
- AI Features: Computer vision detects pill intake and movement exercises.
💡 Challenges We Ran Into
- Implementing computer vision for pill detection took time to optimize.
- Ensuring the game felt fun yet medically helpful required balance.
- State persistence was tricky, making sure progress wasn’t lost on refresh.
🚀 What’s Next?
- Bereal-style wound tracking 📸—AI assesses healing progress from images.
- More interactive AI characters 🧸—Allowing kids to talk to their avatar for motivation.
- Doctor dashboard 🏥—A portal for parents and doctors to monitor recovery.
🎉 With this app, kids can heal faster while having fun! 🚀
