Inspiration

We decided to go with this idea as it was a problem suggested to us by an actual IWK worker, meaning it was a problem people in the medical field faced daily. We felt that it could be scaled and made accessible to other hospitals. This idea also addressed the healthcare cost optimization issue by creating a schedule that optimized the time of doctors, patients, and medical device availability.

What it does

This software will tell the nurse if a patient’s appointment must be rescheduled (based on doctor unavailability or patient unavailability), and using Gen AI, it will give the nurse time suggestions on when it is best to reschedule the appointment to. The time suggested will be based on the traffic data of the hospital (for example, if a certain department is very busy from 1pm-3pm, the software would suggest the appointment to be rescheduled to 4pm). This would make sure that patients do not waste time waiting in the waiting room when there is no one available for them, as well as making the situation more manageable for nurses as there would be fewer patients to handle.

How we built it

We have currently only built the business plan but are eager to get started.

Challenges we ran into

We found it hard to do the coding route in the time limit we had. We also had to spent a lot of time coming up with an idea as we didn't have much experience on the problems faced in the medical field.

We are all so proud of how far we were able to go with this project and grateful for this opportunity to learn.
