Inspiration
We wanted to create a fun game with many interactive elements such that it will appeal to a wide audience of gamers. In doing so, we wanted to use the game platform in order to educate users on COVID safety and mitigation strategies.
What it does
The user controls the Hazman who is immune to the disease. At the same time, an infectious person begins to spread the disease around the 'roamers'. The Hazman has to collect masks and hand sanitizers to give to the roamers to stop the disease from spreading! The roamers can also spread the disease to locations like the school and playground which means that the Hazman also has to clean these locations before time runs out. To win, the Hazman has to cure all the roamers in the given time frame and ensure that all locations are kept disease-free.
How we built it
This game was build using the Pygame module in Python.
Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into included working out how to deal with the collisions between the objects and playing field as well as choosing the features we thought we had enough time to implement.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
A lot of us have never used Python before or never used the Pygame module so we are extremely proud of the programming skills we have obtained throughout the process.
What's next for Hazmany Problems
We have a lot more features and complexities we plan on adding to the game and are excited to keep working on this into the future
How to play
Simply download the HazzyMan folder and then run the hazmat.py file (python3 hazmat.py): https://github.com/evanmakjw/HazmanyProblems/tree/master/HazzyMan
