Inspiration
HazardHub was inspired by the idea that people should be able to find safety information about their communities more easily. We wanted to create something that helps people notice possible hazards around them and understand how weather can affect their safety.
What it does
HazardHub allows users to report local hazards and view them on an interactive map. It also provides weather information and safety guidance based on location and season, helping people make smarter decisions in their everyday lives.
How we built it
We built HazardHub around three main features: hazard reporting, an interactive map, and weather-based safety guidance. We focused on bringing these features together in one place and making the project simple and easy for people to understand and use.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge was figuring out how to bring hazard reports, maps, and weather information together without making the app too complicated. We also had to think about how to present safety information clearly so users could understand it quickly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating HazardHub as a project focused on a real-world problem. We brought together the ideas of community reporting, mapping, and weather awareness to help people stay informed and look out for one another.
What we learned
We learned that creating a useful project takes more than just having a good idea. We also need to understand what people need, plan how the features will work together, and make the information easy to access. This project also helped us think more about how technology can improve everyday safety.
What's next for HazardHub
In the future, we hope to improve HazardHub by adding more reliable weather updates, expanding local hazard reporting, and making the safety guidance more specific to users' locations and the seasons. Our goal is to make HazardHub a helpful tool that encourages people to stay aware and make safer choices.
