Inspiration
This project was designed to help alleviate the crowding seen at the popular trails and to encourage users to find other trails that are less visited.
What it does
The project shows trails within Hawai'i and highlights them according to how busy they are.
How we built it
We used React on the frontend and used a Node server on the backend.
Challenges we ran into
Gathering data was a challenge for us. We tried to use Uber Media but they didn't get back to us when we requested for higher access to their API. Instead we decided to create sample data since this app is more of a framework.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Rendering a map with trails and parks that shows more information about them when clicking on them.
What we learned
We learned how to incorporate ArcGIS with our application to display a map given data.
What's next for Hawai'i Trails
Giving users more options such as rating and leaving a review for a feature. We would also want to get actual data instead of creating fake sample data.
