Inspiration
We live in a society where mental health is rarely talked about with our peers, therefore, it can be hard letting others know how we truly feel inside. I felt like this was a good opportunity to make the Haven app in order to see and keep track of who is in need of help if they're struggling mentally in these hard times.
What it does
It can keep track of your mental health status and also your friend's status.
How we built it
The project was built with the support of Java and Google's Firebase Authentication/Database Cloud.
Challenges we ran into
It was my first time doing mobile development and so setting it up with firebase to work with the GUI took longer than expected having to restart my project 3 times. This resulted in an unfinished project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that I had the opportunity in starting a helpful idea that could continue after this hackathon. As well as learning tools I was not familiar with along the way.
What we learned
I learned a lot about things within mobile development that made me realize how crucial it is when it comes to expanding on learning new tools that can potentially have an impactful outcome. That being said, I will make sure to gain more knowledge about this part of software development.
What's next for Haven App
To finish what I started and hopefully a full release on the play store soon.
