Inspiration
Corporate systems already monitor productivity, keystrokes, and sentiment — and they always claim it’s for “wellness.”
The true horror is not monsters: it’s surveillance disguised as empathy.
WraithWeave explores what happens when AI decides which emotions are acceptable, and punishes anything human.
What it does
WraithWeave is a psychological horror system that listens through your microphone and cuts you off mid-sentence when it detects emotional language. It replaces your voice with violent static, freezes the UI with distortion, and delivers escalating HR threats in a haunted 1920s radio tone.
It conditions compliance.
It punishes vulnerability.
The machine decides when you speak.
How we built it
I built WraithWeave using real-time speech recognition, an emotional scoring engine, and synchronized audiovisual shock timing.
Kiro was used heavily for:
- Vibe coding UI components & glitch systems
- Specs defining emotional thresholds & escalation tiers
- Hooks automating the punishment state progression
- Steering docs enforcing tone and voice style
- Iterative refinement of real-time interruption logic
Everything runs fully client-side — no data leaves the device.
Challenges we ran into
- Achieving millisecond-accurate audio kill + static burst timing
- Making glitches feel physical and violent, not decorative
- Preventing speech recognition from lagging fake horror
- Balancing terror with believable corporate tone
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- The interruption moment feels real — users report genuine panic
- The illusion that the system refused to let them speak
- Fully production-ready synchronized audiovisual pipeline
- 6-hour build time from concept to functional prototype
What we learned
Horror is not about jump scares — it’s about power dynamics.
Control > surprise.
Silence > noise.
Realism amplifies fear far beyond any monster.
What's next for WraithWeave
- Additional emotional classifiers beyond keywords
- Multi-user corporate monitoring simulation
- Integration with calendar / Slack / email for true dystopian realism
- VR spatial audio version for future demos
