The OGM - Hate Speech Checker - Hate Speech

Inspiration

Since there is a lot of hate speech online and on social media, we decided to make an app that helps stop people from hating on others.

What it does

The app asks people about the kind of hate speech they used online and then makes a recommendation based on their answers.

How we built it

We made an app project in code.org and created different cases for the types of hate speech. The app informs the users about what hate speech is and how the app works.

Challenges we ran into

We encountered multiple errors while making the app, such as text overlapping and unresponsive buttons. We lost plenty of time fixing the numerous bugs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The app can successfully detect the kind of hate speech presented and give the user a recommendation of what to do in their situation.

What we learned

We learned more about the impact of hate speech on people and how it can significantly hurt society.

What's next for Hate Speech Checker

Hate Speech Checker Bot that can detect hate speech in messages by looking at context and keywords.
