Inspiration
Hop to the Top draws inspiration from classic climbing platformers and the joy of mastering simple mechanics with increasing difficulty. The bright visuals and playful characters take cues from early 3D platformers and modern casual games, blending nostalgic charm with a crisp, colorful style. The game's "easy to learn, hard to master" feel aims to capture the satisfaction of making progress one jump at a time.
What it does
Hop to the Top challenges players to climb as high as possible by jumping from platform to platform in a vertical world. Players collect carrots to power up their jump—each one lets you jump higher and farther, stacking up to four times your normal jump height.
How we built it
With Three Talented creators. A scripter, a 3D modeler, and a visual artist all pooled their talents to create this lovely experience.
Challenges we ran into
The team leader is currently without a computer. We've been working to deliver this game. With this in mind, we have still created and developed this beautiful project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our double jump mechanic is smooth and very satisfying. The look and feel of this game is also a very pleasing and fun to ho around in.
What we learned
Challenges in polycount and overabundance of objects have been one of our biggest challenges.
