Inspiration - Food and security due to the coronavirus
What it does - connects farmers to areas that dont get produce such as food desserts so that excess does not go to waste and everyone gets an equal opportunity for basic human need
How I built it - Used Dialogue flow for the chatbot, PHP, HTML, CSS, MYSQL, Javascript, and the Bootstrap framework for the front and back end of the website
Challenges I ran into - integrating the web speech api for javascript into the website for individuals with accessibility needs. Trying to get SQL working with the chatbot to retrieve farmer's information.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of - a completed end product that will help farmers and residents during these rough times. Works across a multitude of platforms and languages because not many individuals have access to computers
What I learned - what good chat development skills and used dialogue flow for the first time. Put yourself into into the shoes of your audience to understand their needs. Food deserts in the United States are a big crises.
What's next for Harvest Horizon Co - to make the website accessible to individuals who have visual and hearing impairments. Offering discounts for corrogated products for farmers.
