🎹 Building Harmony: A Place to Come Home To

When I first started learning keyboard, I realized something was missing.

Practicing alone can be isolating.

There are a few multiplayer piano experiences on the internet, but the ones I found felt sterile, outdated, and almost abandoned. You could join, play a few notes, and leave—but there was no sense of community, no identity, and no feeling that you were stepping into a place people actually wanted to spend time.

So I decided to build one.

Introducing Harmony—a browser-based multiplayer piano where people can create or join rooms and play music together in real time using a computer keyboard, mouse, or a MIDI controller.

But Harmony isn't just about playing piano.

It's about creating a different kind of online space.

Instead of building another social platform centered around endless scrolling, likes, or arguments, I wanted to build a place where people communicate through creativity. Music has always been one of the most universal ways humans connect. Two people don't have to speak the same language to create something beautiful together.

One of my favorite moments to imagine is someone joining a room, pressing a single note, and hearing another musician—maybe halfway across the world—respond with another. No introductions. No expectations. Just music.

That's the experience I wanted to make possible.

🌅 Inspired by Golden Hour

The visual design of Harmony is heavily inspired by one of my favorite moments of the day: golden hour.

I wanted the interface to feel warm, peaceful, and welcoming—like coming home after a long day.

The colors, lighting, and overall atmosphere are intentionally designed to help users relax while they practice, improvise, or simply listen. Every design decision was made with one question in mind:

How can software make someone feel cared for?

I want Harmony to be more than functional.

I want it to feel comforting.

The current beta focuses on the core experience:

🚀 Looking Ahead

This beta is only the beginning.

As Harmony grows, I'd love to introduce features like:

• Rich user profiles
• Better mobile support
• Collaborative sheet music
• Video rooms for live practice sessions
• More ways for musicians to discover and connect with one another

My dream is that someone meets their future band on Harmony.

Or finds a practice partner.

Or simply has one beautiful musical conversation with a stranger they'll never meet.

❤️ Why I Built This

I don't think the internet needs another place where people argue with each other.

I think it needs more places where people create together.

Harmony is my attempt to build one of those places.

A place where people can slow down, make music, and maybe—even if it's just for a few minutes—feel a little more connected than they did before.

The beta is officially live, and I'm incredibly excited to keep building it with feedback from the community.
