Inspiration
One teammate said, "Before a close relative of mine struggled with poor financial decisions, I had a rather sheltered view of the impact of poverty, underestimating how widespread and significant this societal issue truly was. This decisive moment inspired me to start a nonprofit that donated supplies to children in shelters, a decision that revealed to me the profound impact shelters have. It was this realization that motivated this project as a whole, as we hope to continue to connect individuals with shelters that provide housing and other necessities, which largely improve the quality of living."
What it does
Harbor is a personalized navigation layer that connects fragmented housing resources with the person who urgently needs help. It asks a few simple questions, ranks resources based on real constraints, explains why each option fits, and generates a personalized action plan: who to call, what to bring, what to say, and a backup option.
