Inspiration
We researched the best workplaces for diversity. We realized that even the best companies still had low rates for diversity hires. Our app intends to encourage companies to increase their diversity and inclusivity.
What it does
It tries to calculate a diversity score for companies that have openings. Using race, sex, age, disabilities, and more factors are used to see if a company is willing to offer resources to underrepresented communities. Higher scores mean more inclusion and diversity. Companies will want to score high to stand out!
How we built it
We broke up the parts of the project into different sections. Christopher Merino Brito and Pablo Tayun-Mazariegos worked on using XCode/Swift to create a Beta version of our vision. They used tutors and online resources such as StackOverflow. Ashely Perez and Paola Roman worked on creating graphics and establishing our mission.
Challenges we ran into
Learning a new IDE and a new language was a grand challenge as our devs were used to working with Visual Studio and C++/C. Our graphic designers and communicators had a bit of trouble clearly communicate our ideas. In addition, we had various ideas and we had to try to corner in on just one idea.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we're able to accomplish what we did in such little time.
What we learned
We learned how to clearly communicate our ideas and how to work with new programs and systems.
What's next for Happy_Company
What's next? It's time for action! We as the young generation must continue to pursue forward to create opportunities for underrepresented groups in society.
