This is where the magic happens. This is where you learn the best things about being a farmer and be a little competitive at the same time.
Inspiration
My inspiration stemmed from my 10-year-old daughter, a city-born child, while I'm deeply rooted in country life. One day, she inquired whether eggplants grew on trees or emerged from the ground. That moment highlighted my oversight in imparting country wisdom to her. My constructions are driven by a vision of love or a play space for my children. In the absence of a local 4-H, it falls to me to educate her. Now, she understands that farms yield more than just animals; she knows the true origin of an eggplant.
What it does
This game educates through play. Players dive into a world where they immediately start harvesting vegetables, all within a time frame of one minute and thirty seconds.
How we built it
The Horizon Desktop editor and Blender were my tools of choice. The main challenge was translating my design ideas into scripts, as I lean more towards design than scripting.
Challenges we ran into
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Completing this project is an achievement I take pride in, considering the steep learning curve involved.
What we learned
The project taught me valuable lessons in time management and the intricacies of Horizon World coding.
What's next for Happy Veggie
I aim to introduce seasonal variations and new scenes, such as orchards, to enrich the farming experience, allowing both children and adults to enjoy learning.
