Inspiration
A couple of years ago I was stuck at a job that I hated with no idea how to escape. That was when I started researching positive psychology. I was completely fascinated with what I was learning and how science has proven what truly does and doesn't make people happy.
I read several books and white papers, however only one applied pragmatism to positive psychology, and that is The How of Happiness by Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky.
As I was reading Dr. Lyubomirsky's book, I couldn't help but ponder how applying it to a scalable app could increase people's happiness. Building Happs has given me the opportunity to combine my passions of technology and positive psychology and for that I am grateful and humbled.
Target User
The target user is anyone who has access to the internet and wants to be happier.
Key Features
Oxford-Happiness Questionnaire
All the questionnaires in Happs were created by positive psychology thought leaders. This includes the Oxford-Happiness Questionnaire which measures your current happiness. I improved the questionnaire by making it a score out of 100 instead of 7 and gave the ability to track progress over time.
Person-Activity Fit Diagnostic
The PAFD is a one-time, detailed questionnaire that determines which activities have the biggest impact based off the user's personality. This guides the user on what activities to do.
Activity Breakdown
Users can visually see what strategies they have done historically. For best results, this chart should emulate the PAFD chart. If the user is looking for more details, they can click on any activity under My Activity History.
New Activity
Each activity allows the user to upload one of their own images and offers several strategies for completing the activity. It aims to balance freedom with strict suggestions.
