Inspiration

I wanted to run a workshop. That meant writing a Meetup page, shortening it for Discord, rewriting it for LinkedIn, messaging volunteers, and creating a calendar event. One idea had become an evening of coordination.

I run the AWS Student Builder Group at UQAM, so this is work I actually do. But the problem reaches beyond the club: a personal project, a community event, or an ordinary week can all leave you moving the same information between apps.

I wanted a place where I could explain what I needed once, work through the details with an agent, and approve the result before anything went out.

That's Orbit. The vision is a personal workspace with specialized agents for different parts of life. The first is Communauté, an agent that helps turn community plans into messages, events, and coordinated action. The club is where I started because I could put it to work immediately.

What we're building

Orbit turns an event description into editable drafts for different channels. You can also chat with the agent, request a specific message, and revise it together.

Approved actions can create a Google Calendar event or post to Discord. Meetup, LinkedIn, Instagram, and volunteer messages remain drafts you can copy. The interface is in English; our club messages stay in French.

The core loop is: propose, review, approve, execute, and log.

## Planned implementation

The prototype already uses React and TypeScript for the interface, with a Node server handling credentials, validation, and execution. Backboard powers planning and contextual conversations; Composio connects Calendar and Discord.

Model output becomes validated proposals, never arbitrary executable code. Approval applies to the exact message and destination. I reused an existing scaffold, adapter patterns, and testing setup, and used Codex for implementation and debugging.

## Key challenges

The hardest part was connecting conversation to reliable actions. Missing permissions, malformed model output, and unexpected receipt formats all needed clear handling.

I also improved the review experience: prefilled event details, inline errors, explicit send buttons, and receipt checks that do not resend an uncertain action.

## Current status

Live planning, contextual chat, and the review workflow work locally. Discord delivery was confirmed during testing, and Calendar creation has a confirmed provider receipt. Core and browser tests cover approval gates and failure handling.

Only the community agent is implemented. There is no public deployment yet, and private club context is excluded from the repository.

## What's next

Deploy Orbit, add real event history and approved follow-up scheduling, and build a workflow for event visuals. Longer term, add specialized agents for personal projects and everyday life, using the same approval model.
