The COVID19 epidemic has affected the life of every person in the world. Vulnerable groups of people — elder people, people with chronic diseases, pregnant women, and people in isolation need help with the delivery of goods.
Besides that, the crisis caused by the coronavirus affects not only medical problems, but also socio-economic ones. Millions of people around the world have lost their jobs, and, according to the prediction of International Labour Organisation 25 million jobs were threatened by the new coronavirus. Despite all the efforts, amount of people in need of help increasing dramatically. They need products, services, cash assistance.
The world was not ready for such a challenge, medical organisations and social services are overloaded. In addition, the connection of people in need and people who are able to help them — volunteer organisations, social services, businesses and citizens, who sometimes want to participate in volunteering, is not always easy and effective.
The solution you bring to the table
Hands of Help is a social platform consisting of a cross-platform mobile application and a website. It solves the problem of connecting people who need help with those who can provide it. The platform can be easily deployed both by local volunteer organization or state social service. All programming code is written using open source libraries, will be available for free and published on GitHub.
A volunteer organisation or social service receives a basic version of a mobile application and administration website with detailed instructions for publishing the application on the AppStore / Google Play, placing its own database in the cloud and hosting the web portal. If necessary, the platform can be adapted to specific tasks. After that, she enters into the database information about people in need that she already has and informs the media about the opening of the platform so that as many people as possible who need help and people who can provide it can join. The platform will allow connect new people and business to volunteer assistance and control the implementation of assistance.
Volunteers. Using the platform, a volunteer can find people in need in his city or region and provide targeted assistance. He downloads a mobile application, registers with personal data and waits verification by the platform administrators - unfortunately, criminals are using the crisis and it is necessary to protect vulnerable people from fraud. After approval, the volunteer finds applications for help for needy people living nearby, selects the type of assistance that he can provide, contacts this person, accepts the application and executes it.
A person in need of help downloads a mobile application and registers in it. After registration, he could sends an application for any kind of help - delivery, material assistance, service, etc. After the volunteer accepts the application, the person can monitor the status of the application in real time, communicate with the volunteer in the built-in chat, and track his location. In addition, he can find volunteers nearby on the map and learn about the types of assistance they can provide. If a person does not have the opportunity to use the mobile application, he can call the volunteer organization and the administrator put his application in the database manually.
Business. Companies can access the database of those in need and provide them with targeted assistance, depending on the type of the company and person needs — this can be a free service or a discount on services, coupon , financial assistance for treatment, etc.
What you have done during the weekend
I started developing the software in early April 2020. I am individual developer.At the moment, the main functionality of the cross-platform mobile application and website is 70% complete. You could see the main functionality in demo video.
The solution’s impact to the crisis
My solution will let those in need to quickly and easily find help, reduce the load of state social service organizations by connecting a large amount of people to volunteer's activitity and will help unite society in the face of threat. I am engaged in a project alone and plan to publish the source code on GitHub June 2020, so that everyone can use it.

The need for volunteer assistance existed before the crisis, and will be relevant after its completion.Everyone could be a volunteer. Everyone could help the person in need. My solution will make this help effective and affordable.
