Inspiration
many apps for elderly yet low usage in fact inspired me ti create this app to bridge gap between their recognition and technology
What it does
the app encourages elderly to learn refresh themselves with new knowledge adapt to a new life with closer connection to society
How we built it
face-to-face interviews
- with elderly of sample size 30, age of 66-78
- 7 wh-questions about habit, preference, pain points, need and improvement suggestions of using app
- design an app and moderated test with 10 old people
- got insights from their feedback and iterated on design
Challenges we ran into
communication during research and moderated test that I don't get use to extra patience needed pace much slower than expected to get understanding with each other as much as possible
app design extra attention to intuitivity + accessibility obviously different recognition of user interfaces
Accomplishments that we're proud of
to the interviewed Elderly
- made them feel being loved, hoping for app come to reality
- brought them satisfaction from success in completinv tasks required
- help them aware of self-value e.g. learning, technology
What we learned
- getting rid of biases
- designing high level of 'people-centred" and "empathic"
What's next for HANDS
- make app sustainable
- keep modifying app with advancing AI
- promoting interfaces and app functions that meet elderly's needs
