Inspiration
We thought of an idea where we could replicate websites like Yelp and Doesthedogdie.com to create a website that allows users to review the accessibility of buildings and to share their experience with others.
What it does
We have the website prompt the user to input whether a building has a certain feature through a yes/no voting system. This system allows people to find out whether a building has the necessary facilities they need without coming into the building physically or contacting the business for more information.
How I built it
We first set up the HTML/CSS page in order to set up the layout of the site along with the design. We then created the database where all the information is sent in from the user and wrote the PHP code that accesses and communicates between the website and the database.
Challenges I ran into
We learned PHP and HTML from scratch. LEarning in under 24 hours is a challenge within itself.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We learned 3-4 languages in 24 hours. Give us a medal.
What I learned
We learned that there is more complexity that comes along with creating a website and that some programming languages are better to use for coding versus others.
What's next for HandiPlan
We need to complete the backend for the website, and there were a couple of ideas that we weren't able to implement such as the comment section for the website due to our inexperience and time limit.
