Inspiration
The project’s idea is generated because of the TTC that happened recently, people need something to protect themselves
What it does
It help people launch something small on their arm.
How we built it
It's consisted of an Arduino due and a base shield on the top. A button and a servo motor are attached to the base shield. The servo motor rotates to a certain degree to open the stopper, then the stopper launches the coin using the elastic band attached to our 3D-printed model. The elastic band pulls the stopper back, and as soon as the shield is released, it shoots a coin away.
Challenges we ran into
The 3D printing's speed slow, so we cannot do so many iterations with our design. The prototype's design is not perfect but we don't have enough time to change them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed a working model in motion simulation as well as a scaled model that somewhat reflect what an actual design will be like.
What we learned
How to design and analyze a model using CAD.
What's next for Hand Mounted Launcher
- Improve the mechanism for rubber bands
- Consider the challenge of scaling up our design
