Inspiration
We took inspiration from our personal experiences: traditional festivals and important family dates that feels less and less festive and exciting, the family traditions and cultures slowly dying due to the lack of proper bookkeeping from the elderly. In order to address problem we have developed our website "hand me down" to help families note down family traditions, important memeries and heartwarming notes for other members.
What it does
It helps families preserve family tradition and foster family bond by allowing families to have a place to bookkeep all family related information such as family tradition notes for festivals, files for family members to view, and to leave messages for family members.
How we built it
We built it using the following technology: Javascript, TypeScript, Supabase, Vercel, next.js
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to adapt with a fluid and changing set of requirements, both for the frontend and database side of things
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
For most of us, this was our first hackathon, so it was surprising that we were able to develop a deployed functioning prototype in time. We’re also quite happy with the product design we went with

What we learned
full stack development using next.js and supabase, identifying and solving problems in our daily lives with a software solution, collaboration skills and most importantly the ability to ship a product in a very limited time frame
What's next for Hand me down
While we got quite far during this Hackathon period, there are features we would like to improve and add, such as making recording voices and videos easier for users to do inside the website, more customisation, and better UI/UX.
