Inspiration
We both wanted to do something with a technology that detects hand movements
What it does
Hand games detects your hand movements specifically your pointer finger and allows you to play Microsoft paint and the dinosaur game all controlled through your hand.
How we built it
We built it using Visual Studio, Java script, html, css, mediapipe, opencv, and phaser for game logic. We did use AI for debugging and help as well a lot of documentation for the libraries above.
Challenges we ran into
At first we were stumped with the hand movement we couldn’t get it to work. Since they gave us prewritten code we had to learn how to interact with it. so a lot of time flew by as we couldn’t do anything else until that was done. For the dinosaur game trying to create a sprite with no library was difficult however using phaser with JS made it easier.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to finish the main idea of our project with room for expansion in the future.
What we learned
We learned how to track hand movements, how to use phaser, how to deal with merge conflicts for merging from branch to main (it was almost a disaster). Overall we got more experience with using JavaScript, html, and css. It was quite the learning experience.
What's next for Hand Games
More classic games like google snake, pac-man, connect 4, etc.
