Inspiration

I was inspired by this cadathon being right around the corner for Halloween, and given the theme of automobile design I thought this would be a quick and fun project to work on! I was pretty lost on what to do initially but a walk around Lake Herrick gave me the perfect idea!

What it does

Does it improve your car's performance? No! Does it improve fuel efficiency? No! But Halloween isn't about maximizing metrics but rather having a unique (and perhaps scary) costume and having fun! This wheel is purely functional and decorative. Think of it as a Halloween costume for your car!

How I built it

I used Autodesk Inventor to design my wheel and A LOT of creative thinking. I looked up some wheel specifications online and watched a Youtube video on how to embed patterns into the tire, but for the most part my mouse was my paintbrush. The goal was to be outlandish and unrealistic and I really tried my best to do so!

Challenges I ran into

Drawing a skull. It's a completely different story when your cadding something as compared to drawing it on a piece of paper. It took a lot of trial and error to get a result that I liked and I had to restart my project a few times. However with focus and grit I was able to get it done and I was able to draw a skull that Iooks great!

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm proud of designing something that I can share with my friends and have a good conversation about! One of my friends who loves motorcycles really liked it!

What I learned

Creativity has no bounds, as long as you can dream it (and your CAD software can design it), the sky is the limit!

What's next for Hallowheel

Designing a complete car to go with the Hallowheel. I plan to call it the Hallocar. How convenient!
