Inspiration
We were inspired by the Demonhacks and Geneva trading problem statements, and our goal was to learn some front end skills and to create a working solution
What it does
We created a website that has a landing page that displays listings. It allows buyers to bid on displayed listings.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and a lot of YouTube tutorials
Challenges we ran into
Because we were learning front end for the first time, we were running into a lot of difficulty with finding the tools and functions that we needed to make our website. It was like building a house and not even knowing what a hammer is.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're really proud that we gave ourselves a daunting task, but we really put effort into trying to learn these new languages and simultaneously create a product by scraping together all the tutorials we referenced.
What we learned
On top of learning a lot about front end development, we learned a lot about what hackathons are structured like and the amazing learning and outreach opportunities that they can provide.
What's next for Halloween Auction House
We would like to try and learn how to implement some backend functions like user login, keeping track of a users listings and their available currency, and automatically sorting through listings once they expire.
