Inspiration
I wanted to create a fully immersive way for people to explore museums—where you don’t just look at paintings but actually hear their stories straight from the Mona Lisa or Van Gogh themselves. Then I thought, why stop there? Imagine a tech museum where you could interact with legends like Steve Jobs and Elon Musk. And so, Hall of Tech was born!
What it does
Ever wanted to have a conversation with Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, or Elon Musk? Now you can. Hall of Tech is an interactive 3D museum where you don’t just read about these innovators—you hear their stories in their own voices while exploring the tech they helped build. Plus you can live chat with them to know their opinions on controversial topics, wink!
How we built it
I designed the entire 3D layout using HTML and a bit of Python, but the real game-changer was Sync.so. Their platform made it possible for the characters to talk, and honestly, this project wouldn’t have been the same without it. I also used Mistral AI using Ollama to generate answers to when users want to chat with the legends.
Challenges we ran into
The Sync API gave had constant internal server errors which was tough to figure out, so I had to get creative and find another way to make it work. Definitely a frustrating but fun problem to solve!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I never thought I’d be able to build such an interactive 3D experience this quickly. It honestly feels more like a game than a museum, and seeing it come to life was insanely rewarding!
What we learned
This was my first time experimenting with lip-syncing, and it was wild! Before this, I had no idea you could build an app in a hackathon where anyone can say something generated from text in their own voice—and in multiple languages too. The fact that I could do it is crazy to me!
What's next for Hall of Tech
Since this was a hackathon project, I didn’t have enough time to fully integrate Sync.so's API for real-time speaking characters instead of just chat—but that’s definitely the next big step! It would make the experience way more immersive and truly showcase what their platform can do. I also want to expand the multi-language support, so non-English speakers can interact with these tech legends in their own language. That would take this to a whole new level!
