Inspiration
After months of sitting on the idea due to lack of resources, I taught myself to build and finally launched HakiChain to create accountability in the legal system.
What it does
HakiChain enables NGOs to post legal aid bounties, and verified legal professionals unlock milestone-based payouts by submitting proof of work through a blockchain escrow system.
How we built it
We scaffolded the project with Bolt.new, deployed smart contracts using Hardhat on Base, integrated them with frontend hooks and added AI-powered case matching logic.
Challenges we ran into
Wearing multiple hats, balancing scope with time and designing an intuitive flow for a blockchain-based legal solution.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our MVP is live, we were selected to showcase at the Kenya Blockchain & Crypto Conference, featured in a Web3 article, and have attracted pilot interest from our target user base.
What we learned
With the right tools and determination, even complex justice problems can be translated into scalable digital solutions.
What's next for HakiChain
Pilot with legal aid NGOs, implement DID-based identity verification and expand bounty onboarding across grassroots legal initiatives.
