Inspiration
We were inspired by the greats of gaming like Cookie Clicker and Squid Ink. These games, while simple, display a connection to one of a users most primal enjoyments. We believed that creating an experience like this for HackGT would be awesome.
What it does
Our web app is an interactive experience that offers up to 25 minutes of gameplay. Our app functions not only as an enjoyable experience, but a soft teaching tool to introduce kids to the world of HackGT and Hexlabs (By being Hackathon themed).
How we built it
We created this application using a React frontend and a JS backend. We were only a group of two so we split the work evenly. While we intended to have one of us do Frontend and the other backend, we swapped back and forth in order to properly assess our creation.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we ran into was our unfamiliarity with Frontend design. Neither of us had used React for a web App before, so creating the UI/UX was a challenge, but a welcome one.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The largest accomplishment we achieved were the unique gameplay mechanics NOT seen in other types of clicker style experiences. We believe that these unique features are the core behind our process of creativity.
What we learned
We learned a very important lesson in pacing. Another issue we ran into was not spreading our time evenly, which resulted in a crunch towards the end. This has helped us to learn how we should pace our workload under high stress scenarios.
What's next for Hacky Clicker
We believe that Hacky Clicker will change the world. This application represents the blossoming future of all developers within the world of Hacking, coding and development.
