Inspiration

The theme of the game jamathon, and ideas we spitballed in the first hour. We started off with the idea being a horror game, but someone suggested the ghost being a nice grandma, and things changed to be more lighthearted.

What it does

It was supposed to go through an entire mini story about Basil and Granny, with Basil helping Granny move on by defeating the game. It would cut between a cutscene and separate game challenges- first impossible, then easy thanks to grandma glitching the arcade machine. But we only managed to get one screenshot and the skeleton of first level done.

How we built it

Built in Unity using C#

Challenges we ran into

Literally everything. Learning Unity on the fly, Unity not loading on team member's computers, Unity crashing or slowing down our laptops, the export of the game making the cutscene look weird but not having enough time to fix it. Everything.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A working cutscene, despite the final display being messed up. We also managed to make a working game, despite it not having anything we made for it.

What we learned

How to make cutscenes in unity, the physics of a 2d Unity game, and timeline to stitch the scenes together and move from the cutscene to gameplay

What's next for Insert (Soul) Coin Here

Moving the entire project to Godot. Screw Unity.
