Inspiration and What it does

  • The challenge was to improve the experience of participants and mentors during the hackathon and having participated in so many, what hurt me the most was mentoring.
  • Every hour a group of mentors with great knowledge came to my team and we had told them how things are going and get great feedback, then another group of mentors came again to my team and we had to say everything again, creating a cycle of precarious mentoring.
  • That's why we created hackatrack, a platform that connects everyone in the hackathon. Each team can update their status sharing good or bad news with the mentors, with that, every group can receive precise feedback based on their status. -The mentors can also update team status, giving even more information so others mentorships take less time and are more assertive. ## How we built it
    • We built is using Flutter for the cross-platform mobile app and React for frontend and Node.js along with mongoDB and AWS for backend.

Challenges we ran into

  • Time was a big challenge for us. Our project length was more than an average project length , so we distributed our time and resources equally among ourselves and via this we were able to complete our project on time.
  • Our second challenge was the variety of tech-stack we were using Node.js , Flutter, React.js, so I chose my team with different skill set.
  • Third challenge was a feature of our project that took a lot of time , it was in React.js , a feature for organiser to track down all the projects, but finally we solved it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We are proud of ourselves that we were able to solve a problem that no one ever has and no one ever tried. There are a bunch of Hackathons organising sites but the essentials features were missing from all of them and we have implemented them.

What we learned

  • We learnt to combine Flutter with Node.js applications, integration of AWS in our project and most importantly we learnt how to collaborate with people with different skill sets and manage the workflows accordingly.

What's next for HackTrack

  • We will be deploying this app to the AppStore and PlayStore very soon.
