Inspiration

The goal of this project was to solve a problem in our system of education, and we chose to help students find appropriate tutors for their classes. No longer will students have to deal with broad categories for classes like math and science or have to schedule on weekends or late nights; Now students will have the ability to find tutors for their specific class and in the periods that they have free.

What it does

This project, worked on by me(Caleb Shelly), Charlie Chen, Dylan Rix, and Ben Russo, works by having Tutors and Students input their information and matching them based on provided information.

How we built it

We used repl.it for a multi-person project that could be worked on at the same time. We used Python, pandas dataframes, lists, and csv files to achieve our goal.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled with reading and writing to CSV files, especially with list variables.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to successfully read and write to CSV files with list variables.

What we learned

We learned that starting with a small idea that can be scaled up and expanded to something greater is a more reliable method to creating a finished working product.

What's next for Hackaton

If we had more time to improve our project we would make it inter-scholastic, which would require a change in scheduling format. We would also create a notification system for tutors and students when a match opens up.
