// The inspiration

We first came up with this idea during the brainstorming phase, when we discussed issues that we all faced personally during this paradigm shift, also known as "the effects of COVID-19 on the education system." One thing that we both agreed we had issues with, was note-taking- specifically keeping up with notes every day after online lectures and zoom meetings. We discussed what was available on the internet- notably Microsoft's Onenote, and Evernote- but soon realized that certain features of both services lacked accessibility in a certain sense. Onenote requires a Microsoft account- of which either institutions pay the hefty fee to gain the service, or private subscriptions are bought. Evernote has a lot of tools available, but is limited by a paywall for "pro" features, such as syncing notes across more than 2 devices. The further we dug in, the more we realized that we couple possibly fulfill a niche- providing the seamless service and sleek functionality of "designer note-taking services", while making it free and easy to use for people of all ages. We wanted to incorporate a daily "rep" system, our take on gamification. Our mascot is Doug the duckling- so our eventual goal was that you earn "bread points" or "BP" by logging in every day and taking notes- which you could feed to Doug- which in turn, gives you more options to customize your profile! Silly hats, cool borders- different from the hallmark staples of a corporate note-taking app, but hey! Gotta duck it up somehow~

// What we learned

We definitely learned A LOT during the course of this project. HTML, JavaScript, CSS were the key elements to making the whole thing work. Also a LOT of photoshop/video effects. Overall, it was a healthy balance of coding and design that kept us on our toes all the way till submission~

// How we built it

We smashed ducks and code together- we have a github repo linked if you don't believe me. TL;DR LOTS, and LOTS of caffeine, css, and html.

// Challenges

Our senior dev was unfortunately taken by GRE's. We wish her the very best. Thus, the bulk of the work fell upon us- two very inexperienced but enthusiastic CS majors, and all the collective brain cells we could scrounge together.
