Inspiration

The Project SkillBuddy is highly inspired by how common the feelings of loneliness and self doubt has grown amongst people in this world especially the young High Schoolers and University Students. Such issues are not a good sign during such a important phase of their life and hence they are the focus for this hackathon event. Students who find difficulties in approaching life and the fun that it is made for.

What it does

The SkillBuddy App is a productive app that allows anyone dealing with loneliness, inferiority complex and or fear of not making their dreams come to reality. Our app basically helps our user find another person with a similar interest and looking towards achieving a goal that 2 users may have in common to help fight loneliness share interests and learn new skills with people that may blend in together. The Use is very simple and minimalistic. The user will be asked to register and share their top 3 skills, hobbies or any lifestyle-based activities. By indulging with friends from the neighborhood you make your daily life fun. While doing so you also interact with strangers who share the same vide as you or maybe strangers who can become close friends and in the process motivate you try certain things which you are hesitant to try. There can be no better way of self improving than being yourself exploring your best interests and hence living your life in your own style and hence enjoying every adventure of your daily lives.

How we built it

We basically used the Express.js module in coordination with basic javascript concepts using html and css for the backend and frontend portions respectively. We also integrated Data Management as part of our project to provide our user the best and most accurate User Experience for best and accurate results to make the users life worth having fun and giving your life a headstart shape and purpose without really complaining about its troubles.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into lot of challenges especially dealing with css which acted really odd at times where everything seemed to be working perfectly but had certain syntax errors that got us stuck for a good amount of time. We also had troubles for the database, with connecting and adding new data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the effort we put in regardless of final product. We truly felt that we were able to give it our best

What we learned

We were able to brush up on our web dev skills. We also learned how to connect a database and maintain it.

What's next for SkillBuddy

Hopefully we can expand the app to include groups, and also include everyone and not just students
