Inspiration
We were inspired by the lack of reliable and informative technology to educate young individuals!
What it does
We specifically designed this app to be delivering facts in a fun way for young individuals between the ages of 12-16. It is specifically targeted to educate a younger demographic, intended to be interactive and informative.
Users have the unique ability to engage with the platform, thereby increasing the likelihood of information retention. The app features various learning opportunities that encourage participation and enjoyment, including a visually appealing user interface, diagrams of bodily systems, and a spotlight on different medical conditions that may be emphasized in the media or the world.
To motivate young users, we have designed a platform to track their progress, milestones, and learning streak, thereby encouraging them to return to the app to learn more. Key information we wanted to highlight includes: common misconceptions, debunking myths, and how to interact with people with certain conditions.
How we built it
We were inspired to build a mobile/tablet/iPad application after defining our problem. Throughout the process, we had a key focus on designing for the target demographic, and iterating through various prototypes before settling on a final design. While we hoped that this would have been available on Android or Apple, we simply did not have enough time to build a functional app; however, this is surely in the future!
Challenges we ran into
We initially planned to develop this app for a younger audience of children aged 6-10. However, we realized from our market research that apps for this age group require much more simplified information and lots of animated icons and avatars. Given our time restriction for this project and the importance we place of educating children, we decided to adapt our idea to the customer segment of children aged 12-16.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of the way we collaborated throughout the entire hackathon, from our idea brainstorming to the numerous design considerations to the realization of our vision in Figma. As amateur designers and inexperienced hackathon participants, we believe we designed an app with well thought-out features and lots of potential as a future business. We are also proud of the way we budgeted our time and stayed on track with the initial timeline we created for ourselves. Finally, we are proud of our continued desire to learn and making the most of Hack the 6ix this year!
